Leadership of the Mau Mau Secretariat

Head of the Mau Mau Secretariat

Head of Secretariat

A Champion of Veteran Justice

Hon. Anastasia Wanjiku Njuguna leads the Mau Mau Secretariat as its Head, driving the national campaign for the recognition and compensation of Kenya’s liberation war veterans.

Her most celebrated achievement is the successful lobbying of all 47 County Commissioners to work directly with Mau Mau leaders in their respective counties — an unprecedented breakthrough that moved veteran advocacy from the capital into every corner of Kenya.

Under her leadership the Secretariat has secured official government recognition, built working relationships with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Forestry, and established systematic documentation of veteran testimony before this knowledge is lost.

She also represents Kenya’s veterans in international engagements, including African Union and ECOSOCC forums, advancing the case for colonial reparative justice.
